Election Statement

Being the MUSA president requires more than a strong academic background; it requires real-life experience and leadership. I can bring these strengths to the position of MUSA president. I will use my position to:
  • Generate a larger pool of internships for undergraduates
  • Build increased unity among Marriott students
  • Enable students to stay connected after graduation

I know you want to make the most of your Marriott experience, and I can help you. My leadership and teaching experience has empowered me to work, communicate, and relate with a variety of people in all walks of life. Having served as a hospital administrator intern at one of the largest hospitals in the Phoenix area, I have learned the importance of internships and the value of being anxiously engaged in pursuit of your career goals.

As MUSA president, I can help you create the opportunities you need.

Vote Justin Birtcher for MUSA president.

ABOUT ME

In 2009, I worked as a hospital administrator intern for Banner Desert Medical Center, a 770-bed non-profit hospital, which averages $550 million in revenue per year. My goal was to learn the management skills necessary to succeed in running a large business. I participated in weekly financial meetings, annual budgeting processes, and directors' meetings.
I also helped develop and oversee two marketing plans; e.g., marketing a new service called the "Cancer Care Coordinator". The last time I checked, we have assisted 22 cancer patients through this service.

I served as a missionary in the Russia Samara Mission. I had the chance to serve in the leadership of all three zones and be in charge of the zone operations and finances.

As an CPR and First Aid instructor I certified over 100 people weekly in CPR/First Aid. I left that job as a head instructor to come to the Marriott School at BYU.

Education and opportunity is important to me. I earned my associates degree, and made the President's honor roll the past three semesters, while maintaining my Presidential Scholarship.

I was born and raised in Arizona and am the first of six children. I like doing many things such as wake boarding, snowboarding, camping and quading. I love being with friends and family. Playing sports is always a favorite and working out just feels good.
